It’s with profound sadness that I have to report that Dennis’s father, Max Prager, died today, Saturday, August 16. He was 96.
Loyal listeners to the show will recall that Dennis had a tradition of interviewing his father on Max’s birthday, July 18. Many have commented over the years that these interviews were the highlight of the Prager radio season.
A man of definite opinions, a font of wisdom, and always bursting with good humor, Max was commanding presence. All this came across in his on-air talks with his son of whom he was immensely proud.
As Max would so readily admit, he led a wonderful life. His autobiography, which he appropriately titled Attitude and Gratitude, tells a great American story: a colorful childhood, action in the South Pacific during World War II, a rich family life, a successful business career spanning two continents, and most of all an enduring love affair with his wife, Hilda. You can read it on line here.
If our mission in this life is to try to make the world a better place, he certainly fulfilled that mission.
His memory is a blessing to all who knew him.
