YouTube vs. Conservative Speech

Tuesday, Oct 25, 2016

Last week, The Wall Street Journal wrote an editorial about YouTube restricting access to 16 videos — down from 21 — that were created and posted online by my nonprofit educational organization, Prager University. The subheading read, “YouTube thinks Dennis Prager’s videos may be dangerous.” The Journal said: “Tech giants like Google and Facebook always deny that their platforms favor some viewpoints over others, but then they don’t do much to avoid looking censorious. … Dennis Prager’s ‘PragerU’ puts out free short videos on...

In Defense of Pro-Trump Christians

Tuesday, Oct 18, 2016

There are many good conservatives who are Never-Trumpers, and there are many good conservatives who will vote for Donald Trump. Eight months ago, I warned that conservatives must resist gratuitous hatred or they will destroy themselves more effectively than the left ever could on its own. I used the term “gratuitous hatred” because it is the term Jews and Judaism use to describe the reason for one of the greatest calamities of Jewish history: the destruction of the Second Temple and the second Jewish state. It wasn’t the Romans who Jewish tradition blames; it was the Jews...

Trump’s Comments: The Latest Left-Wing Hysteria

Tuesday, Oct 11, 2016

Regarding Donald Trump’s private sexual comments: We are living through a national hysteria. To understand how and why, it is necessary to understand the indispensable role hysteria plays on the left. The left is always in major crisis mode. And, in nearly every case, the crisis is either wildly exaggerated or simply false. For example: –Few people deny that the earth is warming. To assert that is not hysteria. What is hysteria is the left’s position that carbon emissions will destroy life on Earth. –No one denies that there are racist cops. What is hysteria is the...

Clinton Won on Nonsense, Trump Won on Substance

Tuesday, Oct 4, 2016

The overwhelming media consensus regarding the first presidential debate — Donald Trump vs. Hillary Clinton and Lester Holt — is that Clinton won. If she did win it was because Trump, after a strong opening 30 minutes, allowed himself to get baited into emotional and tendentious self-defense. And because the media have decided to focus on the tendentious, such as the utterly moronic issue of whether, in 1996, Trump called then-Miss Universe Alicia Machado “Miss Piggy,” almost all the debate analyses ignored many of the most important things each candidate said. On...

Did the Famous Sailor Sexually Assault the Famous Nurse?

Tuesday, Sep 20, 2016

The most famous American photo of World War II is undoubtedly that of the four Marines planting the American flag on Iwo Jima. The second most famous is probably the legendary photographer Alfred Eisenstaedt’s picture of an American sailor kissing a nurse in Times Square in New York City, when people were celebrating Japan’s surrender. The kiss was not, of course, merely a peck on the cheek. If it were, no photo would have been taken. And if one were, no one would have remembered it. The sailor clearly grabbed the nurse. She is leaning backward, bent at the waist; he is holding...

How Is the Godless West Working Out?

Tuesday, Sep 13, 2016

There are many recent developments in the godless West. To name a few: –The Supreme Court of Italy last week ruled that public masturbation is legal (except in front of minors). –The New York City Council voted in May that public urination is not a criminal act. –The San Francisco City Council decided, by one vote, to continue the city’s ban on public nudity — not, of course, on the grounds of “decency” but on the grounds of public health. Since that can easily be resolved by use of a towel on public benches and chairs, it is only a matter of time,...

Trump, Republicans and the ‘Principles’ Question

Tuesday, Sep 6, 2016

All #NeverTrump conservatives maintain that their decision to never vote for Donald Trump is guided by their principles. I have no doubt that this is true. But some of them seem to imply, or at least might think, that conservatives who vote for Trump have abandoned their principles. Indeed, the charge of compromising on principle is explicitly levied at Republican politicians and members of the Republican “establishment” who support Trump. I cannot speak for all conservatives who are voting for Trump, but I can speak for many in making this assertion: We have the same principles...

On Hillary Clinton as a Model for Young Girls

Tuesday, Aug 30, 2016

One of the most oft-heard claims made by supporters of Hillary Clinton is what a positive role model she would be for young girls as president. They say: “Then, my daughters will know that nothing is to too great for them to aspire to. A woman can indeed be president of the United States.” So goes the argument. According to the latest Quinnipiac University poll, women will vote for Clinton by 60 percent to 36 percent, a margin of 24 percent. In the last presidential election, the margin was 10 percent. If the polls are accurate concerning the lopsided female support for Clinton,...

Why Do People Still Donate to Universities?

Tuesday, Aug 16, 2016

There was rare good news this month. On August 4, The New York Times published a front-page article headlined, “College Students Protest, Alumni’s Fondness Fades and Checks Shrink.” According to The Times, some college alumni are awakening to the fact that their beloved alma maters are nothing like the decent, open, tolerant, committed-to-learning places they remember. Rather, nearly every college and university in America has become the least open, the least tolerant, the most hate-filled and the most anti-American (and, of course, anti-Israel) mainstream institution in...

Pope Francis and the Decline of the West

Tuesday, Aug 9, 2016

Pope Francis made comments last week that reveal the most important single thing you need to know about the modern world: The most dynamic religion of the last hundred years has been leftism. Not Christianity, and not Islam, but leftism. Leftism has taken over the world’s leading educational institutions, the world’s news media and the world’s popular entertainment, and it has influenced Christianity (and Judaism) far more than Christianity (or Judaism) has influenced anything. On July 26, two Muslims slit the throat of a French Roman Catholic priest, the Rev. Jacques Hamel,...
